Jackie Mensah, the Pirate of the Dragon Boat Festival!

On a recent sun-filled, fun-packed day, 23 teams took to the water on Brooklands Boating Lake, Worthing, for the first Dragon Boat Festival. 
Our family law solicitor, Jackie Mensah, donned her fancy dress and joined the HASSRA Pirates to race other teams down the length of the lake in 40 ft long Dragon Boats in an attempt to be crowned the Dragon Boat Champions for 2011.
Jackie’s team achieved the fastest time in the first heat at 1 minute and 3 seconds, and made it through to the semi-finals, where they were sadly thrashed by the Selden Arms Pub team.
The Festival was organised by local animal charity WADARS (Worthing & Distric Animal Rescue Service), who anticipate that over £15,000 has been raised for their charity!

Jackie said “It was great to see so many familiar smiling faces, all braving the rays to show their support.”
