On Friday 23rd March 2012, Bennett Griffin staff took part in an original Greek Olympic themed sports event to raise money for Sport Relief. A very fitting theme for 2012!

On Friday the 23rd of March, staff at Bennett Griffin will go the extra mile and hold an original Olympics themed event in Ferring, West Sussex, in support of Sport Relief 2012

There were strikes a go go, a variety of weird and wonderful bowling techniques and styles, a European champion bowler (thank you Lisa John!), and a wealth of raffle prizes, kindly donated by the teams that entered and local businesses.

The Government is introducing Home Information Packs from 1st June

Due to continuing expansion, Bennett Griffin LLP appoint a new Solicitor.

Smoking will be banned in workplaces with effect from 1 July 2007 across England.

New legislation which took effect on 1 January 2007 requires companies and limited liability partnerships to disclose additional information on their websites and on electronic communication documents such as emails.

"Recent cases surrounding religious discrimination at work remind employers that as well as sex, age and race, they now need to be careful that they don't inadvertently discriminate against people who choose to practise or express their faith at work" says Elaine Smith, employment law specialist with Worthing law firm Bennett Griffin.

As from 1 October 2006 new Fire Regulations [technically the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005] came into effect, replacing most of the previous legislation at a stroke.

On the 1st October 2006 the law relating to age discrimination comes into force. The law is similar to existing discrimination legislation and covers direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, harassment and victimisation. One way in which it does differ from existing discrimination legislation is that for the first time it will be possible for an employer in some circumstances to justify direct discrimination.

Commonly known as HIPs, Home Information Packs will become part of the process of buying and selling residential properties from 1st June 2007. Then, in a radical departure from the system we are all used to, it will become compulsory for anyone selling a house or flat to put together a HIP, before the property is put onto the market.

According to research house IDC (www.idc.com/uk) 27% of software in use in UK businesses is unlicensed that is, it is being used illegally.
